POLK COUNTY, FL — A single engine aircraft made an emergency landing Tuesday night in Polk County during a flight lesson, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The pilot and the flight student, both 23, safely landed the Piper Cherokee single engine plane in the westbound lanes of State Road 570 near Drane Field Road at about 11:19 p.m., troopers said. The plane didn't cause any injuries or damage as it trailed along the right grass shoulder before stopping. Neither the student or the pilot experienced injuries, according to officials.
Authorities did not release the exact cause of the emergency landing. The plane was later taken back to Lakeland Linder Airfield.
