Fire Hazard: Disney Mickey Mouse Nightlight Recalled
A holiday-themed Mickey Mouse nightlight has been recalled due to potential fire concerns.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL — Walt Disney has issued a recall on a holiday-themed Mickey Mouse nightlight that poses a potential fire hazard. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, two incidents have been traced back to the lights. One resulted in an electrical fire.
Although no injuries have been reported, Disney is recalling all the nightlights that were sold between July and November 2016 at its Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California theme parks. The nightlights were also sold via the Shop Disney Parks app and online at the DisneyStore.com. About 3,000 nightlights, which were made in China, were sold, the safety commission reported.
The nightlights in question are the “Happy Holiday! Mickey Mouse Nightlight” models with a date code of FAC # 019808-16150 printed on the bottom. The UPC codes for the affected nightlights can be found on a printed sticker on the product packaging box. That code is 400009489637.

The lights feature Mickey Mouse wearing a red-and-white Santa hat. They are filled with liquid and glitter. It’s the liquid from the light that is posing the concern, the safety commission announced in its recall alert. It seems that liquid may leak into electrical outlets, posing the risk for fire.
Consumers who purchased the nightlights can call 844-722-1444 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST Mondays through Fridays for more details. Information is also available on the Disney Parks website. Disney is offering a refund on the product.
