Firehouse Subs Officially Opens Auburndale Restaurant

AUBURNDALE, FL — Firehouse Subs in Auburndale has officially opened its doors.

A husband-and-wife duo, Derrick Yarde and Donishia Yarde, opened the store after owning The Taste of Barbados food truck in Polk County.

"Serving food and bringing people together to share a meal has been a passion of mine since as long as I can remember," Derrick said. "We are excited to welcome Auburndale community members into our new restaurant to enjoy hot and hearty subs and genuine hospitality.

Donishia, a former Bartow Fire-Rescue dispatcher, said she is passionate about supporting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation as someone who used to work with paramedics and firefighters.

"Its mission is to provide lifesaving equipment to local heroes," she said. "We always strive to give back to our community and will continue to do so through our restaurant."

Firehouse Subs' menu features sandwiches like the spicy cajun chicken toasted sub.

Auburndale Firehouse Subs, 2052 US Highway 92 West, Auburndale, is open seven days a week, 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
