Florida Man Calls Sheriff After Botched Drug Deal: Cops

MULBERRY, FL -- A 19-year-old Florida man called police after a botched drug deal, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Owen Good allegedly told sheriff's deputies that he was riding his bicycle at 2:22 a.m. Friday when he was attacked by a former classmate, who knocked him off the bike and took his wallet with about $80 cash inside.

"It should be noted that due to Good's allegation, multiple deputies responded to assist in apprehending the alleged suspect, including a helicopter with two pilots and K-9 Deputy," said arrest documents. "The alleged suspect was also located and initially placed under arrest."

But something didn't add up with Good's story.

"Investigation revealed it was possible that the defendant was not being truthful pertaining to the alleged robbery," arrest documents explained. "Upon questioning him a second time, he admitted that he lied about the incident."

Good allegedly admitted that he gave the $80 to a friend to buy marijuana but never got his pot so he made up the story about the robbery.

Good was even taken by ambulance to a local hospital for the phony injuries he suffered, according to the sheriff's office.

"Owen owes a lot more for the ambulance ride and hospital treatment for injuries he never had," said the sheriff's office.

Good was charged with giving false information to a law enforcement officer and making a false report of a crime.

"Owen was not robbed in Mulberry," said the sheriff's office.
