Haines City Man Faces Felony Dumping Charges: Authorities
A Poinciana family paid the man $100 to take trash of theirs, which included a bed mattress, not knowing he would illegally dump them.
POLK COUNTY, FL — An employee with a Polk County disposal company is accused of using a company vehicle for illegal dumping, according to a police news release.
Peter Kallinicos, 57, of Haines City used an Advanced Disposal pickup truck to haul garbage away for a Poinciana family who paid the suspect $100, investigators said. The family thought he would dispose of the trash legally. Instead, he dumped it in two underdeveloped locations near Lake Marion Creek Drive and Homosassa Road on the other side of Poinciana, detectives said.
“I can’t make this anymore clearer—the people of Polk County are not going to tolerate illegal dumping, and neither are we," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "It’s an environmental issue and a quality of life issue…nobody wants garbage dumped in their community. If we catch you illegally dumping around here, we’re going to dump you off at the jail.”

Deputies found a bed mattress, box springs, old carpet and a large wooden picture frame at the first location, Sunday. The nearby second location had a dresser, old carpet and various debris. Through a photo of the truck, detectives discovered the truck belonged to Advanced Disposal, a company that is contracted by Polk County Waste and Recycling to deliver residential garbage cans.
Kallinicos was arrested Monday on charges of felony commercial dumping, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
