Lakeland Commissioners Vote To Extend Mask Ordinance
The Lakeland City Commission voted to extend the mask mandate that requires all individuals within the city limits to wear masks in public.
LAKELAND, FL — On Tuesday, the Lakeland City Commission voted to extend the mask resolution to October 5, a city news release said.
The resolution requires residents to wear masks in public places when social distancing can't be practiced.
Not every commissioner was in favor of the extension.

The commission voted 4-3 in favor of the resolution with Commissioner Franklin, Commissioner McLeod and Commissioner Read being the dissenting votes, city officials said.
Lakeland's mandatory mask ordinance initially began on July 2.

Any person caught not wearing a mask, could be face fines of $250, the ordinance stated. There are exceptions such as while exercising, however. For the full list of exceptions, visit City of Lakeland website.
