Lakeland Firefighters Conduct Emergency Airport Training
If you happen to be driving by Lakeland Linder International Airport this week, don't be surprised if you see fire or smoke.

LAKELAND, FL — If you happen to be driving by Lakeland Linder International Airport this week, don't be surprised if you see fire or smoke.
"The Lakeland Fire Department will be hosting and performing live fire training at Lakeland Linder International Airport starting Monday, Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019," fire officials explained.
The training will take place on airport property, near SUN n' FUN at 4175 Medulla Rd, Lakeland, on the south side of the airport.

The training will run from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
"There is no cause for alarm if they see fire or smoke near the training site," fire officials noted. "The live fire training is performed annually to meet Federal Aviation Administration Regulations for the department's Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting division."

Officials said the training will simulate a range of emergency situations, including fuel spills and other potential emergencies that could happen in the presence of aircraft.
