Lakeland Traffic Fatality Leads To Highway Closure
A traffic fatality in Lakeland shut down a portion of Highway 92 Wednesday night.

LAKELAND, FL -- A traffic fatality in Lakeland shut down a portion of Highway 92 Wednesday night as first responders worked the scene, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
"Both sides of Highway 92 will be shut down from Highway 92 and Combee Road to Highway 92 and Fish Hatchery Road for the next hour," the sheriff's office said after 6:30 p.m. "The crash involved a motorcycle and three vehicles."
The motorcycle was heading west at what the sheriff's office described as a "high rate of speed"on Highway 92 before colliding with the side of one vehicle and the rear of a truck before ending in the path of a third vehicle.

"The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene," the sheriff's office said. "There are no other injuries."
