Lakes Wales Police Investigating Why Student Brought Loaded Gun To School
Following a fight during lunch, police discovered one of the students had a Glock 26 handgun in their possession.
LAKE WALES, FL — A Lake Wales High School student has been accused by police of having a loaded gun in his backpack following a fight Wednesday after school, multiple outlets have reported.
A fight occurred during lunch break just after 12 p.m. on school grounds, according to WFLA. An 18-year-old student had been in the fight with five other people. All six were arrested on unknown charges following the fight, according to the Lake Wales Police Department's Facebook Page.
A Glock 26 handgun found inside the 18-year-old's backpack was loaded and never used in the fight, the TV outlet reported. An increase of police presence on the campus will be seen for the rest of the week.
