Surveillance Video Captured Wanted Man Seen Punching A 73-Year-Old In Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, FL — A man accused of pummeling a 73-year-old victim Saturday outside of a Winter Haven Publix has been identified, and police have obtained a warrant for the suspect, a Winter Haven Police Department Facebook post said.

According to parking lot surveillance footage, 43-year-old Donald Ray Walker of Indian Lake Estates is shown punching the victim multiple times in a crosswalk at about 2:30 p.m. following a heated argument because the victim accused Walker of driving too fast after the victim walked out of the Publix at Southeast Plaza near Cypress Gardens Boulevard. The victim told police that the Ford F250 driven by Walker came very close to him as it sped past him, officers said.

Following the argument, the truck drove toward the plaza's exit at Cypress Gardens Boulevard. The victim walked in the same direction as the suspect's truck. Walker stopped his truck, and then the video showed him punching the victim. The victim got up and told Walker he was calling the police. Walker is seen in the video walking back to the victim, and then Walker pummeled the victim to the ground, police said. Walker is accused by police of taking the cell phone from the victim and smashing it against the ground.
