Medical Emergency Reported At Summerlin Academy

BARTOW, FL -- A student at Summerlin Academy suffered an undisclosed medical emergency on Thursday.

Deputy Police Chief Bryan S. Dorman of the Bartow Police Department said that school resource officers responded to the call.

"The event did not involve any weapons or threats to students or staff," he said. "The student was transported for medical treatment."

Dorman said that all students and staff at the school were safe.

Summerlin Academy is part of Polk County Public Schools. The academy is located at 1500 South Jackson Ave. in Bartow.
