Man Killed In Wreck On Kathleen Road: Police
Lakeland police had Kathleen Road near Quincy Street closed for several hours Tuesday as they investigated a fatal crash.
LAKELAND — A wreck on Kathleen Road Tuesday morning killed a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Lakeland police said.
A Kawasaki motorcycle drove southbound on Kathleen Road near Quincy Street at 8:45 a.m., reports said. At the same time, a Hyundai car drove westbound on Quincy making a left turn onto Kathleen Road southbound, according to investigators. The motorcyclist ran into the passenger side of the Hyundai as he tried to avoid a collision, deputies said. Following the crash, the motorcycle hit a curb and a cement light pole.
Medical personnel pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the crash location. The driver of the car received treatment at a local hospital. Authorities shut down the roadway for almost four hours as they investigated the wreck.

A crash involving a motorcyclist has shut down all lanes of Kathleen Road near Emma Street Tuesday morning, Lakeland police said.
Lanes are expected to shut down for several hours, investigators said. Deputies were on scene on diverting traffic. Officials have asked drivers to use alternate routes.
