Pastor, Pro Golfer Among 124 Charged In Polk Sex Sting

WINTER HAVEN, FL — PGA golfer Tommy 'Two Gloves' Gainey and the pastor of the New Horizon Church in Haines City were among 124 people arrested in Operation Santa's Naughty List, which targeted prostitution, human trafficking and child predators over a six-day period, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

"He told us he was here for a charity golf event," Judd said of Gainey, who is married and was charged with soliciting a prostitute.

Robert Johns was also charged with soliciting a prostitute, according to Judd, who identified Johns as pastor of the New Horizon Church in Haines City.

"He confessed to us," said Judd of the pastor. "He stated 'well it just came over my cellphone all by itself.'"

Judd said the primary purpose of the operation was to identify victims of human trafficking and those who prey on the victims.

"In addition to that, the other co-primary purpose is to find deviants that want to prey on our children, that want to attack our children, that stalk our children online," Judd explained at a news conference this week.

The charges in the sting operation range from soliciting to commit prostitution, soliciting for prostitution, deriving proceeds from prostitution, traveling to meet a minor for sex, using a computer to seduce, solicit, or lure a child to commit sex and drug possession.
