DAVENPORT, FL — A homeowner's beloved pet is safe after a fire broke out in a Davenport home Thursday evening.
Polk County Fire Rescue was dispatched to provide mutual aid to Davenport firefighters after the fire erupted in a room in the house.
One Polk County sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room and save the pet.
