Police Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run Crash Involving Pregnant Woman
Police have arrested a Davenport man suspected in a hit-and-run crash that caused a pregnant woman to lose her unborn baby.

DAVENPORT, FL -- Police have made an arrest in the case of a hit-and-run crash that caused a pregnant woman to lose her unborn baby.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office had earlier asked for the public's help in finding 48-year-old Bionel Cervin-Gomez of Davenport, who was taken into custody Sunday. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with great bodily injury or death and driving without a license causing death or great bodily injury. He was being held without bail.
"Ultimately, this man caused a baby's death," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "His actions on the road ended a pregnancy in the eighth month."

Judd earlier said that doctors determined the woman lost her baby as a result of the trauma she suffered from the crash. The woman had been eight months pregnant.
The three-vehicle crash occurred on Saturday, Feb. 9, near Highway 17/92 and Shamrock Drive in Davenport.

On Friday the sheriff's office released video of the suspected hit-and-run driver buying beer below:
The sheriff's office said that a woman who had been asked for a ride by Cervin-Gomez called the sheriff's office and turned him in.
"He told deputies that he fled from the scene because he did not have a driver license," the sheriff's office said.
A one-year-old girl was also riding in one of the vehicles that was involved in the crash but she was not injured.
The sheriff's office said that everyone else involved in the crash received medical attention at the scene and were not taken to the hospital. Cervin-Gomez did not have a driver's license on file in any U.S. state, according to the sheriff's office.
"An I.C.E inquiry was completed and deputies learned that Cervin-Gomez is a previously deported immigrant who returned to Mexico in 2000," the sheriff's office explained. "He does not have current legal status to be in the United States."
The Department of Homeland Security has requested that Cervin-Gomez be placed on an immigration hold.
