Polk County Paramedic Dies In Line Of Duty At Fire Station

Douglas Clemons served with Polk County Fire Rescue for 27 years. The Polk County Fire Rescue paramedic died Tuesday on duty.

POLK COUNTY, FL — A Polk County Fire Rescue paramedic died Tuesday on duty, fire rescue officials said on Facebook.

Douglas Clemons, 56, died at the Indian Lakes Estates Fire Station.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of a man who has served Polk County for 27 years and the grief being felt today by our friends at Polk County Fire Rescue, as well as family and friends of Doug Clemons," the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Clemons began his career with Polk County EMS on June 5, 1995. He also served as an engineer at the station.

A cause of death has not been released yet.
