Man With Knife Fatally Shot By Police, Deputies In Auburndale
After threatening the officers and deputies with the knife, Sheriff Grady Judd said they were forced to fatally shoot the man.

AUBURNDALE, FL — Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd and Auburndale Police Chief Terry Storie gave preliminary information during a news conference about an officer-involved shooting that occurred late Tuesday evening at the entrance to the Westside Ridge neighborhood on Westside Ridge Boulevard and Berkley Road in Auburndale.
Auburndale police and Polk deputies responded to a report of a man armed with a knife who was later identified as 55-year-old Angelo Theodore Curcione.
After threatening the officers and deputies with the knife, similar to a steak knife, they were forced to fatally shoot Curcione, said Judd. No officers or deputies were injured.

The shooting is being investigated by the 10th Judicial Circuit Officer-Involved Deadly Incident Task Force.
Curcione has a lengthy and violent criminal history in New Jersey, including a stint in state prison for attempted murder, Judd said.

Those involved in the shooting are Auburndale Police Officer Jazmine Jaimes, Auburndale K-9 Police Officer Presley Hart and Polk County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Frankie Gann.
