Portion Of Natural Gas Pipeline To Be Retested In Bartow

The test will close sections of Radford and Richardson roads July 18

POLK COUNTY, FL — Florida Gas Transmission Co. announced its plans to retest 6.3 miles of natural gas pipeline using water in the early morning of Monday, July 18, as part of its ongoing pipeline safety management program.

The retest will take place from midnight to 4 a.m.

The pipeline extends from north of the intersection of Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road with Radford Road to west of the intersection of North Maple Avenue with Shady Lane in the Bartow area. The pipeline generally follows Radford Road, Richardson Road, Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road and a utility easement.

During the test, the following road closures will occur:

  • All lanes of Radford Road from Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road to Richardson Road
  • North Avenue at Radford Road
  • South Avenue at Radford RoadGate Road at Radford Road
  • Alberta Street at Radford Road
  • Denmark Street at Radford Road
  • All lanes of Richardson Road from Radford Road to Griffin Road
  • James Street at Griffin Road

Law enforcement officers will be stationed at pipe crossings during the test.
