POLK COUNTY, FL — Heavy construction projects countywide continue to slow Polk County drive times:

Mt. Pisgah Road north of County Line Road (Hardee/Highlands) near Fort Meade remains closed until Wednesday, Oct. 26, as crews repair a washout that undermined a portion of the northbound travel lane. Traffic is being detoured along Berquist Road and County Line Road to U.S. 17 to bypass the closure and work zone.

West Lake Eloise Drive and Hoover Road in Winter Haven will be closed for six more weeks for the installation of a roundabout and sewer main for the new Harmony at Lake Eloise residential development. Traffic will be rerouted to Rifle Range Road (County Road 655) to get around closures.

Caribou Drive in Poinciana is closed through mid-November for the replacement of a sewer line. Caribou Drive is a loop road with two intersections along Tiger Road. The work zone is at the northern intersection. Traffic will be redirected to the southern intersection for access in and out.

Jacks Road north of the Berry Town Center in northeast Polk is currently closed from Ambersweet Way to Wellesley Drive for three weeks to install new sewer piping beneath the roadway. Traffic will detour along Charo Parkway and Berry Boulevard. Jacks Road should reopen Monday, Nov. 7.

Road improvements for a new Publix shopping center in north Auburndale will keep William Van Fleet Road (County Road 559A) closed until early December. Traffic will continue to be briefly detoured along State Road 559 and C. Fred Jones Boulevard.

Lichtenwalter Road will be closed for the next three weeks at the intersection with Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road in unincorporated Winter Haven to construct drainage improvements for a new subdivision. Traffic will be detoured along Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road and Spirit Lake Road until the roadway reopens on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Motorists should drive carefully, be alert to crews and equipment, and follow detour signs. Delays can be expected, especially during peak-hour travel times.
