Orlando lost two law enforcement officers in the line of duty Monday. Condolences have been pouring in as the manhunt continues.

ORLANDO, FL — The City of Orlando and the state of Florida are in mourning following two law enforcement deaths connected to a hunt for the same murder suspect. Orlando Police Master Sgt. Debra Clayton died Monday following an exchange of gunfire with the suspect. Orange County Deputy First Class Norman Lewis was killed during a motorcycle crash that occurred as he was taking part in the manhunt that was sparked by Clayton’s shooting.

As of 7 p.m. Jan. 9, officers throughout the Orlando area continued the search for the suspect linked to the deaths. The police department has identified the accused shooter as Markeith Loyd, 41. He is wanted in connection with the December death of his pregnant girlfriend, 24-year-old Sade Dixon.

Loyd is also accused of shooting at an Orange County deputy on Monday. While the deputy was not injured, authorities say his unmarked SUV took damage.
