HAINES CITY, FL -- A 38-year-old suspected triple murderer in Florida surrendered to police on Sunday after allegedly apologizing to his children on Facebook following the murders of their mother, the woman's aunt and the woman's 6-year-old daughter by another man, according to police.

“Ernst Cherizard, 38, turned himself into the Haines City Police Department,” said a spokesperson for the agency late Sunday afternoon. “Detectives will attempt to interview him.”

On Saturday, Cherizard allegedly posted this message to his two children on Facebook only hours after the Friday night shootings:

"Daddy is so sorry with all my heart 'cuz I can't believe this happened," Cherizard allegedly penned after fleeing a Polk County apartment complex in a burgundy 2011 Nissan Altima.

Haines City Police Chief Jim Elensky called Cherizard a “monster” and was skeptical of the apology.

"Despite his remorse, make no mistake about it, this man is a monster," insisted Elensky. "To consciously shoot three innocent, unarmed females is nothing less than being a coward. To shoot a truly innocent 6-year-old child is disgusting, and beyond comprehension. Moreover, he shot the child at least three times, once being in the head."

Police launched a manhunt for Cherizard and said the car he was driving had been spotted passing the Boynton Beach toll plaza shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, which is about 58 miles north of Miami.

Cherizard’s alleged victims include 23-year-old Eli Junia Normil, who was identified as his girlfriend, 48-year-old Nicole Guillume, the woman's aunt, and Elizabelle Frenel, the child.
Cherizard and Normil had two children together.

The six-year-old died Saturday night before 11 p.m. at an Orlando Hospital where she had been placed on life support, according to Haines City police.
Guillume was Normil's aunt.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the first responders who did everything they could at the scene," the Haines City police chief said earlier. "They also must live with this tragedy."

The shootings took place at the Citrus Ridge Apartments in Haines City before 7:30 p.m.
Police said Normil's aunt and another female relative went to the apartment complex to check on Normil.

"Cherizard told them that she was not there," according to Haines City police. "One relative returned to the apartment complex. A confrontation between the woman and Cherizard ensued. Cherizard fired a handgun, killing her and fled."

Cherizard's girlfriend and her child were found inside an apartment.
