Roads Near Polk County Train Derailment Reopen
CSX had estimated roads would reopen Tuesday.

UPDATE: CSX has completed the necessary work on Kathleen Road and the roadway is now open. Deputies are no longer on scene, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
LAKELAND, FL - CSX officials say they cannot provide an estimate on when their cleanup work will be completed at the site of Monday's train derailment, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. CSX said they would continue to work Tuesday night and the roads near the train derailment would need to remain closed.
A train carrying molten sulfur derailed in the Kathleen area and Strickland Road early Monday morning and roads were closed. CSX officials initially had hoped the roads would be open by Tuesday.

CSX and state officials are working to clean up a molten sulfur spillage and remove the damaged train cars. Cross sections at Kathleen Road/Strickland Road and Youngs Ridge to Spivey Road are closed.
Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
