Trooper Crashes Patrol Car In High-Speed Chase On I-4: Report

A speeding driver got away from a Florida Highway Patrolman when the trooper's car wrecked in Polk County near Socrum Loop Road.

POLK COUNTY, FL — During a high-speed chase Wednesday morning in Polk County, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper lost control of his vehicle on Interstate-4 and crashed it, WFLA reported.

According to the TV outlet, the trooper tried to overtake the speeding vehicle near Socrum Loop Road exit ramp in Lakeland at 1:30 a.m. The patrol car then smashed into a concrete wall near I-4 westbound.

The trooper experienced minor injuries in the crash, the TV outlet said.

The speeding driver got away and was not involved in the crash, the TV station said.
