WINTER HAVEN, FL — Winter Haven police on Monday said they have a 35-year-old person of interest in connection with a double murder last week in which two women were killed. The person of interest has been taken into custody on unrelated charges.

Twenty-three-year-old Chanel Zhane Brown of Lake Hamilton and 42 year-old Latoya Dimitria Owens were identified by police Monday as the victims of the double murder.

Their bodies were found inside a home in the 100 block of Avenue V NW. in Winter Haven on Oct. 6. Police said Owens lived in the home.

The person of interest is from Lake Hamilton. He turned himself into Lakeland police Sunday night on unrelated charges, according to a Winter Haven police spokeswoman.

"Investigators continue to follow tips and leads that are received and ask the public to call if anyone has any information regarding this case," the spokeswoman said.
