Witnesses Sought In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash In Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash that took the life of a 59-year-old woman Saturday night in Winter Haven.

Winter Haven police are asking anyone who was in the area of Lake Howard Drive Northwest between Avenue D Northwest and 17th Street Northwest on Saturday around 6:50 p.m. to call *FHP if they have any information that could help authorities locate the driver who fled the scene or contact Heartland Crime Stoppers at 800-226 TIPS (8477) to be eligible for a cash reward.

According to troopers, a vehicle was heading east on Lake Howard Drive, east of 15th Street Norhwest when it hit the woman who was crossing the road. She died at the scene.

A witness described the vehicle as possibly a silver Dodge Caliber with Virginia plates.
