Women Pointed Gun At Driver Who Cut Her Off: Winter Haven Police

A Winter Haven woman was charged with aggravated assault after police said she pointed a .380-caliber handgun at another driver.

WINTER HAVEN, FL — Police said they arrested a Winter Haven woman after she was accused of pointing a gun at another driver she believed cut her off in traffic.

According to Winter Haven police, on Wednesday at 7:54 a.m., 25-year-old Bonita Adams of Lake Marianna Drive was driving along Sixth Street Southeast when she said another driver cut her off after turning onto Sixth Street from Avenue O Southeast.

As both vehicles stopped for traffic at the intersection of Avenue K Southeast and Sixth Street Southeast in front of Winter Haven High School, police said Adams got out of her vehicle with a .380-caliber handgun. She walked to the driver's door of the other vehicle, pointed the gun at his face and said if the driver ever cut her off again, she would find her and kill her.

The other driver had her 12-year-old child in the vehicle with her at the time, the police report said.

Police said Adams walked back to her vehicle and, when the light changed, the victim called the police. Adams continued driving behind the victim and officers pulled her over in the area of Sixth Street Southeast and Avenue C Southeast.

When police questioned Adams, she said she told them that the other vehicle cut her off so she got out at the stoplight and pointed a gun at the other driver, according to the report.

Adams was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and exhibiting a weapon within 1,000 feet of a school, according to the police report.
