Wrong-Way Driver Resuscitated Twice Following US 17 Crash: Sheriff
Investigators are unsure of what caused an Arcadia driver to cross into oncoming traffic Saturday night in Polk County.
POLK COUNTY, FL — A 26-year-old Arcadia man had to be resuscitated twice Saturday night following a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 17 Saturday night, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Ricardo Castillo drove his car northbound in the southbound lanes of Hwy 17 at about 11:35 p.m. when he crashed into an SUV. Deputies said that investigators do not know why Castillo crossed into the wrong lane.
Castillo was resuscitated twice and taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

The driver of the SUV experienced minor injuries, deputies said.
Southbound lanes of Hwy 17 were closed for several hours during the investigation.
