5 Things Includes Blues and Blankets

It's the weekend of Dec. 3 and 4, and the weather is warming up a bit again. Is it just me, or is it impossible to dress appropriately this time of year? Here are five things you can do this weekend, regardless of the temperature.

  • Land O' Lakes Little League will havedrive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for the spring season. Anyone is welcome to drop off a toy, and all donations will go to children in Pasco County. Infant toys and teen items are especially needed, organizers say.
  • Trinity Church of Wesley Chapel will host the "a family-friendly movie with strong Tampa Bay connections" at 6 p.m. on Saturday.  Tim Paskert, the film’s producer, will make a special guest appearance to discuss the film and answer questions from the audience.  All are invited to attend—just bring a blanket or beach chair and settle in for the show.  The event supports Trinity Church’s Youth Group Holiday Food Drive for the Samaritan Project.  Audience members are asked to make a voluntary contribution of one or more non-perishable canned or boxed food items – cash donations also are welcome.  Trinity Church also runs Operation Keep Warm, a program to distribute blankets to the homeless. Bring a can, leave a blanket, share the Christmas spirit and enjoy a movie.
  • On Dec. 3 and 4, Bank of America Merrill Lynch is helping local cardholders celebrate the holiday season by offering free admission to the Florida Holocaust Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg and Tampa Museum of Art through Museums on Us.
  • Grab a mug of hot chocolate, saddle up the one-horse sleigh (or just hop in the car and turn the A/C on full blast) and go for a drive through Land O' Lakes to spot the best holiday displays. Or whip up a batch of something delicious and probably not nutritious with the family. Just don't forget to send us your recipes to share with your fellow Patchers!

Happy weekend, all!
