State Road 54 Brush Fire 90 Percent Contained
A brush fire that broke out Sunday morning along State Road 54 in Odessa was deemed 90 percent contained just before 8 p.m.

ODESSA, FL β A brush fire that broke out Sunday morning east of Gunn Highway along State Road 54 had been deemed 90 percent contained just before 8 p.m. April 30.
While the roadway had reopened to traffic in both direction at that time, Pasco County officials were urging residents to take care when driving through the area Sunday evening and into Monday morning due to the potential for smoke to reduce visibility.

On Sunday evening, officials said the blaze, dubbed the Gladstone Fire, had burned approximately 40 acres. Fire rescue and members of the sheriff's office were expected to remain on the scene overnight to monitor the blaze and make sure surrounding neighborhoods weren't in jeopardy.
Sunday's fire forced the evacuation and closing of Starkey Wilderness Park. As of Sunday evening, officials expected the park to resume normal activities on Monday, May 1.
