WATCH: Canes Mascot Walks Bride Down the Aisle
Sebastian the Ibis stepped in for the bride's father who died unexpectedly before his daughter's big day.
Itβs not every day that an ibis decked out in a Miami Hurricanesβ football uniform gets to walk a bride down the aisle, but Jennifer and Patrick Sullivanβs wedding wasnβt an everyday affair.
When Jenniferβs dad passed away unexpectedly six months before his daughterβs big day in March, the serious Canes fan knew she needed someone to stand in his place. She also knew she needed a way to lighten the mood, she told WSVN.
Enter Sebastian the Ibis, UM's mascot.

Jennifer Sullivan thought the plucky mascot was the perfect choice because she and Patrick met at the University of Miami, the station reported. And, since Jennifer once worked in the athletic department, booking the feathered guy in orange just fell into place.
After all, βI live, breathe and die Canes football,β the station quoted Jennifer as saying.

While Sebastian did the honors, Jenniferβs father wasnβt forgotten. Instead of a tuxedo, Sebastian wore a jersey with her dadβs nickname on the back, βBig Walt.β
