Dental Assistant Accused Of Sexual Assault On Sedated Patient
Authorities say the 18-year-old victim was sedated at a Land O' Lakes dental office when a dental assistant sexually assaulted her.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — Authorities are accusing a dental assistant in Pasco County of sexually assaulting a patient who was sedated for a dental surgery. An affidavit from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office says Edwin Alvis, 37, sexually assaulted the 18-year-old victim on Dec. 6, 2019.
According to the affidavit, the victim was in a dental chair to have her wisdom teeth removed when Alvis sedated her with laughing gas for the procedure.
Then, the affidavit says, Alvis began to lift the victim's shirt. Despite her resistance, he eventually exposed her breast and sexually assaulted her, the affidavit says. Alvis is accused of then putting his hand down the victim's pants and sexually assaulting her.

In a Jan. 2 interview, Alvis denied to investigators having sexually assaulted the victim and consented to have his DNA collected.
According to the affidavit, Alvis told the investigator on Jan. 13 "there was no way his DNA would be present" on the victim's breasts. However, the affidavit says, DNA results received by authorities on Feb. 12 directly contradicted that claim.
