DUI Wolfpack Set To Prowl Several Counties

The Florida Highway Patrol has announced an upcoming DUI Wolfpack that will run from Hernando to Polk counties.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — Tampa Bay area residents with evening plans that call for a spirited drink or two will want to think twice before getting behind the wheel. The Florida Highway Patrol’s Land O’ Lakes Sub-District has announced plans to hit the road for a multi-county DUI Wolfpack operation.

The enforcement effort is scheduled to start around 11 p.m. Thursday, April 13 with an intended end time around 4 a.m. Friday. The operation is set to cover Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough and Polk counties. Troopers say they intend to be especially visible on the Suncoast Parkway, Veterans Expressway and the Polk Parkway.

“Everyone is reminded to not drink and drive and (to) plan in advance for events where alcoholic beverages are consumed,” an email from the patrol said. Motorists should designate drivers, use taxi services or plan events where driving isn’t necessary, the agency added.

Motorists who encounter impaired drivers are urged to pull over and contact FHP by calling *FHP from their cellphones.
