Experience a Haunting in the Woods of Werner Boyce

There's fun for kids and adults at the state park.

The woods of Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park in Port Richey are about to get frightening.

Halloween in the Woods, the annual celebration presented by the Salt Springs Alliance, summons unnatural things to the park this Friday and Saturday night.

The 6th annual event raises scares to amuse those brave enough to enter the haunted trail.

You’ll find a crash site with startling sights and sounds. And a group of cannibals looking for dinner guests. And more scenes crafted by volunteers.

The haunted trail is for adults and older children and teenagers.

There’s also fun for young children available with a planned kiddie trail, pirate ship, hayride and games.

Members of the Alliance, the nonprofit Citizens Support Organization for Werner Boyce, and volunteers have begun setting up scary scenes.

The proceeds from the Halloween event will go to the organization, which raises awareness and donations for the park, Pasco's last lage tract of Gulf Coast wilderness.

Flip through our photos, see some of the setup and meet a few scaremasters.  Then take a trip to the park Friday or Saturday. You might get a fright.
