Heritage Park Foundation Revs Up for Second Annual Car Show
Volunteers, vendors and sponsors are still needed.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. Or just get out your calendar for now.
The Heritage Park Foundation's Al and Ida Silver Memorial Car Show will be held Jan. 14 at the Land O' Lakes Community Center, and the foundation needs you.
Volunteers are needed to help with parking and registering the cars, event organizer Pam St. Mary said. "We're also looking for goody bag items," St. Mary said.

Entries last year ranged from featuring "Bonnie and Clyde" replica mannequins. Organizers hope to have an equally impressive turnout this year.

And entries are not limited to classic cars.
"If you think you have a special car, bring it," Graves said.
The car show is a fundraiser for The Heritage Park Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes the improvement of the historical community center and park. The show is dedicated to the memory of Al and Ida Silver, longtime residents of Land O' Lakes and two of the founders of the Heritage Park Foundation, Graves said.
Individuals and businesses can sponsor the event for a $10 donation, Graves said.
There are still openings for all types vendors, as well. Businesses that want to promote their goods or services during the event can sign up for a booth by calling St. Mary at 813-731-5168.
The fee to enter a car in the show is $15, which includes a goody bag for first 50 cars registered. To register a car in advance, email LOLSaturdayMkt@aol.com. Registrations also will be taken from 9 a.m. to noon on the day of the show.
The family friendly event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 and feature a DJ playing music from the 50s, 60s and 70s as well as vendors, food and door prizes.
"The kids like to dance to the music," St. Mary said.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 cars chosen by event judges at 2:30 p.m. A Heritage Park Foundation's Choice Award also will be awarded.
