
The Thanksgiving holiday usually results in high traffic on major roads, so the Florida Highway Patrol is upping its trooper presence on those roads in Pasco County.
An increased force of troopers will be patrolling high-volume roads Wednesday through Sunday.
In addition to calling out troopers, the FHP is pulling in its auxillary and reserve forces.

They will be looking for signs of impaired driving, speeding, following too close and other kinds of aggressive behavior.
“The holidays are a time for celebration, but we cannot forget safety behind the wheel," Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol, stated in a press release.”

Here’s how you can avoid being pulled over before you can even dig into dinner, according to the Highway Patrol.
- Make sure you don’t break down. Check to make sure your vehicle’s fluids are plentiful and equipments are all running smooth
- Rest before a long drive
- Pay attention to the speed limits and don’t break them
- Buckle your seatbelt
- Don’t text, adjust your radio or eat. Avoid distractions that will take your eyes off the road.
- Deny yourself that glass of scotch or bottle of beer. You don’t want to get a DUI.
Call *FHP (*347) if you break down or see an aggressive driver, or call 9-1-1 in case of an immediate emergency.
