Land O’ Lakes Man, 37, Killed In Manatee County Crash
A 37-year-old Land O' Lakes man was killed early Thursday morning in a crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Thursday morning crash in the Parrish area that left a 37-year-old Land O’ Lakes man dead.
According to the agency, Jacob Charles Vondran, 23, of Sarasota was heading eastbound on State Road 70 around 12:21 a.m. Aug. 10. As Vondran’s Chevrolet Silverado traveled east of the intersection with Robinson Road, troopers say Adam Absher was heading west in a Dodge Challenger.
Vondran, a highway patrol report said, began to drift across the left center lane. When he did, the Silverado struck the front left portion of Absher’s Challenger.

Absher, the patrol said, died following the crash. Vondran was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation. Troopers say it is unknown at this time if alcohol played a role.
