Man Accused of Fondling 4-Year-Old

A Land O' Lakes man was arrested this week after authorities say he fondled a 4-year-old child.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the girl told her parents that Jack Edwin Smith, 65, touched her "pee pee" over her clothes while lying on his bed with her.

When confronted by the parents, Smith told them he had touched the child in a "fondling" manner on more than one occasion because he had a "special relationship" with the child, an arrest report stated.

Post-Miranda, Smith told deputies that he may have touched the child on accident while he was wrestling and playing around with her, according to the report.

Smith of 4419 Marchmont Blvd was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 13, and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation. He was released from the Land O' Lakes jail on $150,000 bond.
