Land O’ Lakes Man Killed In U.S. 41 Crash With Cop Car

A 17-year-old Land O' Lakes man was killed in an early Saturday morning crash on U.S. 41 involving a Tampa Police cruiser.

LUTZ, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday morning crash on U.S. 41 that left a 17-year-old Land O’ Lakes man dead.

According to the agency, Ashlyn Price, 18, of Land O’ Lakes was traveling south on U.S. 41 in a Saturn around 12:15 a.m. Jan. 21. Price was in the outside lane north of the apex with Florida Avenue. At that time, a marked Tampa Police Department Crown Victoria, driven by Sigure O’Neil, 43, was heading north on Florida Avenue south of the intersection.

Troopers say as O’Neil traveled through the intersection, Price failed to stop for a red traffic light. Price’s front end collided with the front of O’Neil’s vehicle, a highway patrol report said.

Jordan Garrett, a passenger in Price’s vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol’s report said.

O’Neil and Price both suffered minor injuries in the crash, the report said. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Alcohol is not a suspected factor in the crash. All three people were wearing seat belts, the report noted.
