Land O’ Lakes Ultralight Crash Under Investigation

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — A Saturday afternoon crash that left an ultralight aircraft almost fully submerged in Lake Thomas is under investigation by Pasco County authorities.

According to Pasco County Fire Rescue, its crews responded to a report of a plane crash in Land O' Lakes on May 20. When they arrived on the scene, they found an ultralight “almost fully submerged in the middle of the lake,” an email from the agency said. The pilot had been rescued from the wreckage by bystanders who used private boats to get to him, the agency noted.

Fire rescue says the man, who is not being identified at this time, was uninjured in the crash.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office was investigating. Further information is not being released at this time.
