Lutz Motorcyclist, 37, Killed In Crash Identified

LUTZ, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday morning motorcycle crash that left a 37-year-old man dead.

According to troopers, the motorcycle’s driver, Ryan Nelson, was heading east on State Road 54 in the outside lane around 1:49 a.m. Feb. 4. As the Nelson's motorcycle approached U.S. 41, he attempted to merge into the right lane to go southbound on U.S. 41 “and failed to negotiate the turn and collided with the curb,” a highway patrol report said.

Nelson's motorcycle overturned, ejecting him, troopers said. He died at the scene, the report noted.

Troopers say Nelson was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the crash.
