Man, 24, Killed In U.S. 301 Crash

A 24-year-old Zephyrhills man was killed in a Wednesday morning crash on U.S. 301 near Dead River Road.

THONOTOSASSA, FL — A Wednesday morning crash on U.S. 301 in Thonotosassa involving a car and a truck has left a 24-year-old Zephyrhills man dead.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Raul A. Quiles O'Ferral was driving a Toyota Camry south on U.S. 301 just before 7:30 a.m. March 8. At that time, Ricardo Robinson, 40, of Tampa was driving a truck northbound. Both vehicles were near Muddy Lake Trail, which is north of Dead River Road.

Troopers say O'Ferral attempted to pass other traffic by moving into the northbound lane. When he did, he crashed into the oncoming truck.

O'Ferral died at the scene. Robinson suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No charges have been filed in the crash that closed both north and southbound lanes of U.S. 301.
