Man Arrested for Stabbing Wife Told Deputies She Did it Herself

The Land O’ Lakes man arrested June 2 for stabbing his wife told deputies she grabbed a kitchen knife during an argument and began stabbing herself for no reason, according to a Pasco County complaint affidavit.

According to the report, while being treated at Bayonet Hospital in Hudson, Barbara Monaco told deputies that her husband, Michael Monaco, 40, attacked her with a kitchen knife as she was lying on the couch. 

Barbara Monaco had stab wounds on her chest and neck, as well as lacerations on her fingers and hands; her injuries required 13 stitches, according to the report.

Michael Monaco of 17831 Ayshire Blvd in Land O’ Lakes was charged with attempted felony murder. He was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail Sunday, June 3, on $50,000 bond.
