Man Seriously Injured In Land O’ Lakes Fire

Pasco County Fire Rescue says a Sunday blaze left a home a 'total loss' and a man seriously injured.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL β€” Pasco County Fire Rescue is investigating an early Sunday morning two-alarm blaze that destroyed a Land O’ Lakes home and left a man seriously injured.

According to authorities, firefighters were called to a home in the 4500 block of Drexel Road around 2:11 a.m. May 21. Initial reports were that a man was trapped in the upstairs of the home, but first responders found the man had escaped. The man, however, was seriously injured, an email from the department said.

While the man was airlifted to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, crews began battling the blaze. Five engine crews were called to the scene, along with a ladder company. It took 50 firefighters to bring the blaze under control, the agency reported.

Authorities have not said what caused the fire, but noted the home was a β€œtotal loss.”
