LAND O’ LAKES, FL — While most kids might say it’s way too early to consider talking about next school year, parents know better. Those first bells will ring soon enough, and that means it’s time to start getting ready.

Parents who want to get a jump start on planning their schedules for the academic year ahead will find Patch has them covered. Here are the important dates for kids enrolled in Pasco County Schools for the 2017-18 academic year:

• Elementary school orientation – Aug. 10
• First day of school – Aug. 14
• Labor Day holiday – Sept. 4

• End of first grading period – Oct. 13
• Teacher planning day – Oct. 16
• Report cards – Oct. 23
• Fall break – Nov. 18-26
• Possible hurricane makeup days – Nov. 20-21
• End of second quarter – Dec. 22
