Pasco Creates Cutting-Edge Water Analysis Unit
The newly designed Neptune unit saves money, time and resources according to Pasco County Utilities.
LAND Oβ LAKES, FL β Providing clean water to residents is a major role for Pasco County Utilities, the task would often take considerable time, effort and resources to do the job right.
Now, thanks to the Neptune unit, Pasco County Utilities is improving its water quality service. Developed by Pasco County Utilities, Neptune is a self-contained, mobile, solar-powered water analyzer designed to continuously and remotely analyze water for chlorine and pH levels. The unit also tests water pressure.
From conception to creation, the Neptune project took less than a month.

βNeptune is a game-changer,β said Rob Marin Utilities operations and maintenance director. βThis innovative unit has multiple capabilities, including serving as a tactical decision aid for improving flushing requirements, while maintaining satisfactory chlorine residuals.β
Instead of sending employees out to collect water samples three or four times a day, the Neptune unit allows staff to example samples collected every minute from various locations. Other advantages of Neptune include:

- Easy 15-minute setup
- Collects real-time samples from any login access countywide

- Identifies seasonal differences in water quality
- Data will determine how water is adjusted and treated by area
βProviding high-quality drinking water to (residents) requires a utilities infrastructure with an efficient flushing program to ensure quality, taste, clarity and color,β county officials said in a press release. βWith Neptune, Pasco County Utilities will be able to adjust flushing time and volume based on real-time data, saving water and money.β
