Pasco Deputies Warn Parents: Children Solicited Through Apps

The sheriff's Cyber Investigations Unit has spotted this trend over the last two months involving the abuse of social media and preteens.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL - Pasco deputies are warning parents about a trend involving prepubescent children who are being solicited online to perform sexual acts using phone apps such as Liveme, Skype and Instagram. The sheriff’s Cyber Investigations Unit has spotted the trend over the last two months involving the abuse of social media and preteens.

Deputies said that, in all cases, the juveniles were not monitored and β€œhad full control over the digital devices.” In some of the investigations, the perpetrator resides overseas, restricting any action by investigators.

β€œWe are urging and encouraging all adults to closely monitor under-aged persons use of the Internet and cell phone use,” the sheriff’s office said.
