Pasco School District Meets State Class Size Mandate

It was a 'monumental' effort, school board member Joanne Hurley says.

The Pasco County School Board got good news at its Dec. 4 meeting.

The district received certification from the state that it met class size requirements.

Thank you to everyone who worked on getting that done, “it’s a monumental effort,” board member Joanne Hurley said.

Not only does that mean no fine this year, it also reduces penalties the district faced from last year’s failure to meet the requirements, board chairwoman Cynthia Armstrong said.

The district was slapped with a $4 million fine for not meeting the mandate in for the 2011-12 school year.
