Pasco Unveils 1st-Of-Its Kind Fire Station With Carcinogen System
The Land O' Lakes station is one of the first in the state with a hot, warm and cold zone design aimed at reducing firefighter cancer rates.
LAND O' LAKES, FL β The community got an up-close view of the new state-of-the-art Pasco County Fire Rescue Station 9, featuring safety features for the firefighters whose job is to keep the community safe.
The event took place Friday at the new station, 11425 Silver Palm Blvd., Land O' Lakes.
Station 9 is the first fire station in Pasco County and one of the first in the state of Florida to boast a unique hot, warm and cold zone design aimed at reducing firefighter cancer rates.

The highly anticipated fire station is a 16,046-square-foot four-bay fire station that highlights firefighter health, safety and wellness. The zones will allow firefighters to clean carcinogens off their bodies before entering the fires station's living quarters.
The station also has larger bays to accommodate oversized specialty apparatus, a built-in 16-member training classroom to support multi-station training, a flex room to house additional firefighters during a major emergency like a hurricane and an advanced station alerting system to improve firefighter health and wellness.

This station will also house the department's purpose-built Decon 1, Rehab 1, Ladder 9, Rescue 9, shift commander and hazardous materials units.
The grand opening marks the first new station paid for by the Pasco County Fire Rescue General Obligation Bond.
