Pine View Students Win Regional ExploraVision Competition
The three students will be honored during a ceremony at Pine View Elementary School.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL – Pine View Elementary School will honor a team of three students that advanced to the national semifinals finals of a STEM competition.
The team of fifth graders Caden Sessions and Zachary Tomasello and fourth grader Brady Longmuir won the Region 3 competition in the 25th annual Exploravision competition for Grades 4-6. Pine View will honor the students at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 5.
The students won their regional competition with their design for a Coral Reef Monitored Growth Sanctuary. The concept would help coral reefs grow while providing scientists with consistent information about coral bleaching, ocean water temperature and acidity.

The Pine View Elementary School team was one of 24 regional winners across four grade classifications during the 2017 ExploraVision competition. The regional winners will have a chance to bring their visions to life through a website and a prototype.
A judging committee will review the websites and select two winning projects from each category. The national finalists will receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in June for ExploraVision Awards Weekend for each student and a parent or guardian.

Sponsored by Toshiba and the National Science Teachers Association, ExploraVision is a competition for K-12 students that challenges students to solve a real-world problem that may take place 20 years in the future with a strong emphasis on STEM.
Since its inception in 1992, ExploraVision has seen more than 350,000 students from across the United States and Canada participate in its annual competition.
