Prognosis ‘Good’ For Boy, 4, Shot In Stomach
Pasco County officials are reviewing possible charges after a 4-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound earlier this week.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — As 4-year-old Brody Pawlus recovers from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, Pasco County Sheriff’s officials are determining what, if any, charges will be filed in the case.
The incident that sent Brody to the hospital occurred in the 6700 block of Boulder Run Loop in Zephyrhills around 9:17 p.m. March 29. Deputies say Brody’s grandmother, Gail Pawlus, 60, was babysitting the boy at relative’s house when the child accidentally shot himself.
“While the grandmother was in the adjacent bathroom, the victim located a loaded firearm in the bedroom and shot himself,” the sheriff’s office explained in a Friday email to media.

Brody was taken to a Tampa hospital following the incident. He remained there Friday in stable condition, the agency said.
“Brody is doing well and was speaking to deputies and family today,” the agency’s email said. “His prognosis is good.”
